What shampoos should you avoid if you have psoriasis?

There's no one particular shampoo a person with psoriasis should avoid, according to Quynh-Giao Sartor, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist at Westlake Dermatology in Houston, Texas. Dr. Sartor recommends avoiding shampoos with harsh chemical ingredients, such as sulfates and parabens, because they can trigger or worsen existing scalp inflammation. Shampoos with ketoconazole, fragrances, or alcohol should also be avoided since they can be overly drying for some people.
